Sloe gin and sweet vermouth shaken with Angostura bitters — a forgotten classic that deserves revival. Sloe gin brings the deep, plummy sweetness of blackthorn berries, the vermouth adds herbal complexity, and the bitters tie it together. Think of it as a fruitier, more approachable cousin of the Manhattan.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 sloe gin
  • 1/2 oz sweet vermouth
  • 2 dashes Angostura® bitters

Instructions

  1. Pour the gin and vermouth into a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes.
  2. Shake well, and strain into a cocktail glass.
  3. Add the angostura bitters, and serve.
