The Florida Piña Colada takes Puerto Rico’s national cocktail and runs it through a Floridian lens — vanilla ice cream replaces the traditional coconut cream, and dark rum joins coconut rum for a richer, more dessert-like result. A splash of orange juice and cream round out what is essentially a boozy tropical milkshake. It’s the kind of drink that shows up at beach bars along the Gulf Coast, where the line between cocktail and frozen dessert has always been pleasantly blurred.
