The Alabama Fizz follows the classic gin fizz template — gin, lemon juice, sugar, and soda water — but adds a Southern touch with fresh mint sprigs as the garnish. Fizzes were among the most popular cocktail families from the late 1800s through Prohibition, and regional variations like this one popped up across the country. The mint lifts the citrus and botanical notes of the gin, making this a bridge between a fizz and a julep.
