Bloody Maru

The Bloody Maru replaces the Bloody Mary’s vodka with sake — Japanese rice wine — for an East-meets-West twist on the brunch classic. Sake’s delicate, slightly sweet character creates a lighter, more nuanced base than vodka’s neutral bite. The Worcestershire, Tabasco, horseradish, and lime remain, providing the same savory, spicy kick. The name is a play on ‘Maru,’ a common suffix in Japanese ship names, steering this Bloody Mary toward Pacific waters.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz sake rice wine
  • 4 drops Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 drops Tabasco® sauce
  • 1 dash horseradish
