The Golden Fizz is one of the canonical fizz variations, distinguished by the addition of an egg yolk — giving the drink its ‘golden’ name and a rich, creamy body. This is one of the classic trio: the Silver Fizz uses egg white, the Golden Fizz uses egg yolk, and the Royal Fizz uses the whole egg. All three date to the late 1800s. The yolk adds a velvety, almost custard-like quality that softens the gin’s botanicals and the lemon’s acidity.
