The Lemon Drop emerged from San Francisco’s Henry Africa’s bar in the 1970s, created by Norman Jay Hobday. This version uses Absolut Citron vodka for extra lemon intensity, combined with margarita mix, triple sec, and fresh lemon juice, all shaken and served with a sugar rim. The sugar-crusted rim is essential — it’s the first thing your lips hit, and it sets up the sweet-sour contrast that makes the Lemon Drop so addictive. Think of it as a vodka sour dressed up for a night out.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 oz Absolut® Citron vodka
- 2 oz margarita mix
- 2 tbsp triple sec
- juice of 1 lemons
- 2 packages sugar
Instructions
Pour over cracked ice, and strain into a cocktail glass with sugar around its rim.
