Lemon Drop #6

Another take on the Lemon Drop, this version keeps things cleaner with just Absolut vodka and Cointreau — the premium French orange liqueur adding more nuanced citrus than standard triple sec. Shaken with ice, strained, and served with a sugared rim, it’s a slightly more refined approach to the same sweet-tart template. The Lemon Drop has been a staple of the vodka cocktail renaissance since its invention in 1970s San Francisco, and its enduring popularity comes down to that irresistible combination of sugar, citrus, and cold vodka.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 shots Absolut® vodka
  • 1 1/2 shots Cointreau® orange liqueur
  • 1 lemon wedge
  • ice
  • sugar

Instructions

  1. Put the vodka and cointreau into a shaker.
  2. Squeeze the lemon juice into the shaker.
  3. Put a good amount of ice in the shaker, close and shake until cold.
  4. Moisten the rim of a cocktail glass and then dip the rim in the sugar.
  5. Strain the contents of the shaker into the glass.
  6. Garnish with lemon zest for a decorative touch.
