Orange Scented Hot Chocolate

A soothing drink with rich coffee flavors, the Orange Scented Hot Chocolate blends 2 cups milk, 4 oz chocolate and 3 2-inch strips oranges peel.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 oz chocolate
  • 3 2-inch strips oranges peel
  • 1/2 tsp espresso
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Combine milk, chocolate (chopped bittersweet or semi-sweet ), orange peel, espresso (instant coffee), and nutmeg in a heavy medium saucepan.
  2. Stir over low heat until chocolate melts, increase heat and bring just to a boil, stirring often.
  3. Remove from heat and whisk until frothy.
  4. Return to heat and bring to boil again.
  5. Remove from heat, whisk until frothy.
  6. Repeat heating and whisking once again.
  7. Discard orange peel.
  8. (Can be prepared 2 hours ahead.
  9. Let stand at room temperature.
  10. Before serving, bring just to boil, remove from heat and whisk until frothy.) Pour hot chocolate into coffee mugs.
  11. Makes 2 servings.
