Ugandan Ginger Tea

A comforting drink with layered character, the Ugandan Ginger Tea is made with milk, 1/2 – 1 tsp loose black tea leaves, and sugar. Nothing more, nothing less.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 – 1 tsp loose black tea leaves
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • ginger

Instructions

  1. Set the milk, tea and sugar to boil.
  2. Wash a thumb-sized piece of fresh ginger.
  3. Pound until flat, where juice should begin to ooze.
  4. Add the ginger to the milk-tea mixture when it begins to boil.
  5. Reduce the heat, letting it all simmer for 2-3 minutes.
