Harvey Wallbanger

The Harvey Wallbanger is a 1970s icon — a Screwdriver spiked with a float of golden Galliano herbal liqueur. The drink was created (or at least named) by champion mixologist Donato ‘Duke’ Antone and became the centerpiece of one of the most successful liqueur marketing campaigns ever run. A cartoon surfer mascot appeared in ads nationwide starting in 1969, and within a few years Galliano was exporting 500,000 cases annually to the U.S. The name’s origin is fuzzy — the most popular tale involves a surfer named Tom Harvey and some unfortunate encounters with walls — but the drink itself is straightforward and delicious: vodka, orange juice, and that distinctive anise-vanilla Galliano float.

  • 1/2 oz Galliano® herbal liqueur
  • 4 oz orange juice
