Black Stuff

Scotch whisky and crème de menthe stirred over ice with dark tea, strained and garnished with a mint sprig. The tea adds tannin and earthiness to the Scotch while the crème de menthe provides a cool counterpoint. An unusual combination that reads like a bartender's experiment but drinks like it was planned all along.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz Scotch whisky
  • 1 oz creme de menthe
  • 1/2 – 2 oz dark tea

Instructions

  1. Pour the Scotch whisky and creme de menthe, into a mixing glass half-filled with ice cubes.
  2. Add dark tea, to taste.
  3. Stir well.
  4. Strain into a cocktail glass, garnish with a mint sprig, and serve.
