Hot Lemonade

Hot water, fresh lemon juice, and maple syrup — a warming drink that’s equal parts remedy and ritual. The maple syrup’s caramel-like sweetness is more interesting than honey or sugar, and a pinch of cayenne pepper (optional but recommended) adds a slow, warming burn. A cold-weather classic.

Ingredients

  • juice of 1 lemons
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Squeeze the juice of the lemon into a 10-oz.
  2. glass.
  3. Add maple syrup and a dash of cayenne pepper.
  4. Fill with ice water.
  5. Stir.
  6. Drink.
