Stout Sangaree

There's something satisfying about a well-made Stout Sangaree. This warming with a bite version uses ruby port, stout, and superfine sugar for a result that's greater than the sum of its parts.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz ruby port
  • 12 oz stout
  • 2 tsp superfine sugar
  • 2 tsp water
  • 1 pinch grated nutmeg
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the sugar in the water in the bottom of a beer mug.
  2. Carefully pour the stout to give a half-inch head.
  3. Float the port on top.
  4. Garnish with a dusting of nutmeg and cinnamon, and serve.
