The Danish Gin Fizz adds Scandinavian flair to the classic fizz template with cherry Heering, the celebrated Danish cherry liqueur that has been produced in Copenhagen since 1818. Cherry Heering also stars in the Singapore Sling and the Blood and Sand, making it one of the most versatile liqueurs in cocktail history. Here, it joins gin, Kirschwasser cherry brandy, lime juice, and sugar, topped with soda water. The double dose of cherry — Heering’s sweet depth plus Kirschwasser’s dry intensity — gives this fizz a distinctive ruby tint and a rich fruit character that sets it apart from the standard Gin Fizz.
Ingredients
- 2 oz gin
- 1/2 oz cherry heering
- 1 tsp Kirschwasser® cherry brandy
- 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
- 1/2 tsp superfine sugar
- 2 1/2 oz soda water
Instructions
- Pour the gin, cherry heering, kirsch, lime juice and sugar into a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes.
- Shake well, and strain into a highball glass filled with ice cubes.
- Gently stir in the soda/sparkling water.
- Garnish with a maraschino cherry and a slice of lime.
