Flying Grasshopper

The Flying Grasshopper is a modern riff on the classic Grasshopper, swapping the original’s cream for vodka. The Grasshopper itself dates to the early 1900s at Tujague’s bar in New Orleans, where it won second place in a 1928 cocktail competition. While the original is essentially a drinkable mint-chocolate dessert, the Flying Grasshopper is sharper and more spirited — vodka, white crème de cacao, and green crème de menthe shaken and served up. Same mint-chocolate flavor profile, but lighter and less sweet, with the vodka adding structure where the cream added richness.
